چکیده

This article presents a single CUSUM scheme (called the GCUSUM chart) for simultaneously monitoring the time interval T and magnitude X of an event. For example, a traffic accident may be considered as an event, and the total loss in dollars in each case is the event magnitude. Since the GCUSUM chart is developed based on a synthetic statistic G which is a function of both T and X, this new chart is able to make use of the information about the event frequency, as well as the information about the event magnitude. Moreover, the detection power of the GCUSUM chart can be allocated in an optimal manner between those against T shifts and against X shifts, and between those against small shifts and against large shifts. The performance studies show that the GCUSUM chart is more effective than all other charts in the current literature for detecting the out-of-control status of an event. Furthermore, the GCUSUM chart performs more uniformly for detecting process shifts of different types and sizes. This chart is also easier to be designed and implemented than other CUSUM charts for monitoring both T and X. The GCUSUM chart has the potential to be applied to many different areas, especially to the nonmanufacturing and service sectors, such as supply chain management, homeland security, office administration and the health care industry. & 2013 Elsevier B.V. A risk adjusted self-starting Bernoulli CUSUM control chart with dynamic probability control limits

Usually, in monitoring schemes the nominal value of the process parameter is assumed known. However, this assumption is violated owing to costly sampling and lack of data particularly in healthcare systems. On the other hand, applying a fixed control limit for the risk-adjusted Bernoulli chart causes to a variable in-control average run length performance for patient populations with dissimilar...

A two-sided Bernoulli-based CUSUM control chart with autocorrelated observations

Usually, in monitoring a proportion p < /em>, the binary observations are considered independent; however, in many real cases, there is a continuous stream of autocorrelated binary observations in which a two-state Markov chain model is applied with first-order dependence. On the other hand, the Bernoulli CUSUM control chart which is not robust to autocorrelation can be applied two-sided co...

The Cusum Chart for Monitoring Short Production Runs

This paper develops a model for the analysis and design of a CUSUM chart for monitoring the process mean in short production runs and proposes statistical measures of performance that are appropriate when the process is not operating indefinitely. The model can be used to evaluate the performance of the CUSUM scheme for any given set of chart parameters and thus allows comparisons with Shewhart...

Improving the Performance of Combined Shewhart-Cumulative Sum Control Charts

For an improved monitoring of process parameters, it is generally desirable to have ef?cient designs of control charting structures. The addition of Shewhart control limits to the cumulative sum (CUSUM) control chart is a simple monitoring scheme sensitive to wide range of mean shifts. To improve the detection ability of the combined Shewhart–CUSUM control chart to off-target processes, we deve...

A Simple Risk-Adjusted CUSUM chart for monitoring binary health data

When data consist of patients with a specific risk to develop an health event and we are interested in monitoring the incidence rate of this event, the standard Bernoulli CUSUM fails and a risk-adjustment needs. The risk-adjusted CUSUM chart proposed by Steiner et al. (2000) shows some limitations. To overcome these limits a simple risk-adjusted CUSUM is proposed and it may be considered a gene...
